Common Name Mountain Pepper Tree. Native to Tasmania is a member of the magnolia family. Produces rich red young stems and long shiny leaves with cream flowers in early spring. Acid loving. Full sun to semi-shade. Evergreen. Hardy.Makes an ideal hedge a real feature with its red stems and cream flowers. Plant in a moist well drained soil. Little pruning should be required other than to keep the natural form.
